Tractors are known to be large and powerful motor vehicles with large wheels that are used for hauling equipment and trailers. These versatile machines can also be utilized for a wide range of applications and tasks. But the question still remains. Why do bigger tractors need a set of bigger tires to work? As we all know, tractors have four wheels: a pair of small tires at the front and another pair of larger ones at the back. What are the reasons behind this design?
A Brief History of Tractors
Before we answer the main question, let us first talk about how tractors were invented. Tractors were first introduced in the 19th century, the era where steam engines on wheels are highly useful in transporting mechanical farm machinery through a flexible belt. Portable versions of steam engines were finally used for agricultural purposes thanks to Richard Trevithick in 1812. Bigger Tractors Need Bigger Tires Because….
The following are the reasons why bigger tractors have bigger tires:
- To prevent the tractor from sinking in the soil – Tractors are mostly designed to pass on muddy terrains like farms.
